AGITATOR - BB5
Agitator BB5 has now evolved from its first appearance at BB4 into a more powerful and robust robot.
The spinning arm with 4 lb splitting malls mounted on each end (which bent and was caused the loss at BB4)
has been replaced with a drooping blade made of Spring Steel.
The chassis is made out of laser cut Stainless steel (instead of Cold Rolled steel) and TIG welded into place using 'slot and tab' construction for precision alignment of the various parts. All parts were powder-coated with my standard race team colors.
It has two motors (instaed of four) driving 4 (instead of 6) Racing Go-Ped wheels using a two stage chain drive system.
It weighs in a 219 lbs and has a top speed of 8 MPH (instead of 5).
The blade driven by a Briggs and Stratton Etek and has an angular velocity of 90 MPH.
Agitator is now using a Futaba 75 mhz radio system.
This bot concept has been tested fairly well, as a variation of it, Propeller-Head, did very well in Robot wars.
Star Precison cut me two sets of sheetmetal so I could make both robots for the different Venues. The pictures
you see are shared by both robots as many chassis parts are identical. You'll notice, though, that besides the paint and sponsor decals,
there is a Dalton Gear torque limiter on the motor shaft.
